Pro Bono Opportunities

The Birmingham Bar Association offers numerous pro bono opportunities for its members, primarily through its affiliated organization, the Birmingham Bar Volunteer Lawyers Program (BBVLP).  The BBVLP helps facilitate access to justice for more than 1,000 income-qualifying clients each year.

Volunteer contributions range from handling individual cases to staffing weekly help desks at the Jefferson County District and Domestic Relations courts.  The BBVLP staff assists volunteer attorneys at every turn, and the Program offers opportunities both to gain experience and to give back!  Visit the website, here, or contact the BBVLP Executive Director, Nancy Yarbrough, at nyarbrough@vlpbirmingham.org for more information.

The BBA Pro Bono Committee is one of numerous committees through which lawyers become involved in the work of the Bar.  Its primary purpose is to organize activities around the National Pro Bono week which is celebrated each October.  To volunteer for this, or any other of the Bar's committees, please contact the BBA Executive Director, Bo Landrum, at blandrum@birminghambar.org.
