The Birmingham Bar Association supports our members in their practices, promotes justice, and encourages public service. We further the legal education of our members and the public, facilitate access to justice, provide opportunities for public service, and encourage camaraderie, integrity, and a spirit of respect and goodwill among members.

Membership is open to all licensed lawyers, and voting membership is available to all practicing lawyers in the metropolitan Birmingham area, including Jefferson County and its contiguous counties.

Founded in 1885, the Birmingham Bar is one of the oldest local bar associations in the United States, with approximately 3,300 members.
