This program entitled "The Role of Empathy in Effective Negotiation/Mediation" is sponsored by the Birmingham Bar Association's ADR Section and will focus on how empathy can improve our efforts to succeed in negotiations and mediations. 

Speakers are -

  • Emily Bonds Davey, Esquire, Visiting Professor and Director, Externship Program - Cumberland School of Law
  • Lynn D. Hogewood, JD, Director, Academic Support Program and Instructor - Cumberland School of Law and MA in Educational Psychology, Univ. of AL Candidate 2021

The speakers noted above will define empathy, discuss how to cultivate it, talk about why empathy is important and will use activities and role play to demonstrate the use of empathy in mediations and negotiations - Q&A segment included.  A Section Social will immediately follow.
