Important issues that uniquely impact women have arguably not received the attention deserved. Gender inequality touches women in ways that are frequently unconsidered and sometimes unintended. In the U.S., the hygiene and cleanliness of women is subordinated by a system that requires a woman to always carry their own supplies or fight with a machine that is often broken or empty. Decisions made by stakeholders with economic, legal and political power have tacit economic consequences for women. To the extent that poverty weighs more heavily upon women, this CLE considers one piece in a broader mosaic. Issues addressed in this CLE will include period inequity, menstrual capitalism, and the pink tax.
