This program is a comprehensive overview for attorneys who wish to serve as appointed counsel for criminal defendants in Jefferson County.

Fourteen different speakers, including current judges, the elected District Attorney, the Public Defender, and various experienced and prominent attorneys, will present on every aspect of the Jefferson County Criminal Court System.  This CLE will include the basic structure of our District, Circuit, and Municipal Courts, as well as nuanced information about specialty courts and tips for representing clients with mental health and immigration issuesAgenda (which includes speakers and topics) is available here.

Approved by the Alabama State Bar MCLE Commission for 5.6 hours MCLE Credit (including .5 ethics).

Register online with credit card (Visa, MasterCard or Discover) - deadline for registrations is November 3 at 12:00pm.  Registration fees are as follows -

  • $40.00 BBA Member (you must be signed in to your member profile when registering to receive discounted rate)
  • $60.00 NonBBA
