We invite you to join us for lunch, an engaging CLE, and a Get to Know BHM event featuring Birmingham AIDS Outreach. 

Attorney Steve Rygiel, Director of Legal Programs at Birmingham AIDS Outreach, will review select laws in Alabama pertaining to HIV and LGBTQ legal rights. In 2020, Alabama was one of seven states designated as a priority jurisdiction in the “Ending the HIV Epidemic” Initiative for the United States. The CLE will describe a few representative cases involving civil, criminal, and administrative law towards demonstrating ongoing challenges to stemming HIV in Alabama and progress in the field. Additionally, the presentation will highlight several current trends impacting LGBTQ rights.
