Estate planning with
closely-held business interests can introduce several complex issues of which
estate planners must be aware in order to provide effective counsel. This
presentation will discuss a common and effective technique to consider when
planning with business interests – the grantor retained annuity trust. It will
also touch on the benefits and usefulness of owning closely held business interests
through a revocable trust. Charitable giving is a topic that clients
consistently discuss with attorneys and financial advisors and is worth of
consideration in every estate planning consultation. This charitable giving
presentation will review the tax benefits of gifting various types of assets,
provide an overview of charitable giving vehicles, and highlight several
charitable planning techniques that can benefit clients of modest to
significant wealth. Speakers: Jennifer McEwen of
Maynard Nexsen and George Gaskin of the Community Foundation of Greater
Birmingham Maynard Nexsen, 1901 Sixth Avenue North, Suite 1700, Birmingham, AL 35203 Lunch Generously Sponsored by Maynard Nexsen Free for Probate Section members; join the Section to attend this and other Section events 1 hour CLE credit
