The BBA Criminal Justice Section presents this session that will focus on procedures for completing applications for
Mental Health Court and requirements for approval. - Rekita C. Jackson will explain the
procedures in place for screening potential clients with a mental illness and
how to connect them to mental health services in the jail as well as bridging
the gap post- release to mental health providers and medication.
- Jonathan King
will outline the requirements, referral services, and expectations of the
Mental Health Court Program.
- Deputy District Attorney Misty Reynolds will
discuss how to ascertain candidates in the program from the perspective of the prosecution
as well as the types of cases that are accepted into the program and how
acceptance is evaluated.
- Judge Stephen Wallace will participate in the Q
& A section to help provide guidance to attorneys who have legal questions,
concerns, and explain the benefits of participation in the Mental Health Court program.
