At this event, we will learn about The Morgan
Project, whose mission is to teach civil rights and social
justice through Birmingham's history of conflict and courage. Sharing
real-world stories of the struggles of Black Americans in Birmingham, our panel
of speakers will highlight the importance of civility, courage, and
collaboration in our society. They will provide evidence-based lessons to
present a full picture of the country’s history. This timing of this program is
significant as we approach the 60th anniversary of the 16th
Street Baptist Church bombing. Click here for a list of events to remember the
1963 bombing: https://www.birminghamal.gov/2023/08/01/the-city-of-birmingham-and-partners-to-commemorate-60-years-since-sixteenth-street-baptist-church-bombing/
Our speakers are Dr. Carolyn McKinstry and Lisa McNair
