What is LawyerConnect?

LawyerConnect is a public service offered by the Birmingham Bar Association to assist area consumers in locating an attorney for legal services.  A limited number of Birmingham Bar members are eligible to join LawyerConnect, and will receive referrals as appropriate on a rotating basis.  LawyerConnect is not a pro bono or reduced-fee service, and callers are advised prior to receiving a referral that all legal fees, including any consultation fee, are negotiated between the referred attorney and prospective client.  Neither the attorney nor the potential client is under any obligation to move forward with the matter after the initial contact.

How much does it cost?

The fee to participate in LawyerConnect is $150 per year.  A portion of this fee is allocated to consistent advertising on and other advertising vehicles.  The program runs from April 1 - March 30 each year, and fees are not pro-rated if a member joins during the course of the year.  LawyerConnect is limited to 100 participants per year to ensure adequate referrals for each LawyerConnect member.

How is it advertised?

The Birmingham Bar Association advertises LawyerConnect to reach lower to upper middle-income consumers, and specifically uses digital advertising to increase the number of quality referrals made through the program.

What are the requirements?

To sign up for LawyerConnect, you must be in good standing with the Alabama State Bar, and your regular membership dues with the Birmingham Bar Association must be current.  The 2016 Rules and Regulations and application form are posted here.
