BBA New Lawyers Mentoring Program

Applications for participation in the
2019 New Lawyer Mentoring Program are being accepted

The Birmingham Bar Association's New Lawyer Mentoring Program assists new lawyers as they transition to experienced legal practitioners. New lawyers (Mentees) are paired with experienced lawyers (Mentors) for a quality one-on-one mentoring experience. Participation in the program is voluntary and FREE!  A brief history and overview of the program is linked here.

FOR MENTEES:  New lawyer BBA members who have been actively practicing for 3 years or less are invited to submit applications. Applications are accepted through October 31 each year and the Program begins in January. Submit a Mentee application here

FOR MENTORS:  BBA lawyers who have practiced at least 5 years are invited to apply to become a mentor. The Program seeks experienced, professional and ethical lawyers who can assist Mentees as they transition to experienced practitioners. Submit a Mentor application here.

If you are an existing Mentor and would like to renew your commitment, or if you would like to nominate an experienced lawyer to be a Mentor, please e-mail jbuettner@birminghambar.org and note "Mentoring" in the subject line.

Please Note:  This program is NOT an alternative to the Professionalism and Ethics CLE required by the Alabama State Bar for new Bar admittees, and it does not provide CLE credits for mentors or mentees.
